Fr Paskalis, New OFM Bishop

In accordance with can. 401 § 1 of the Code of Canon Law, the Holy Father has accepted the resignation of Bishop Cosmas Michael Angkur, O.F.M., of the diocese of Bogor (Indonesia).The Pope has appointed Rev. Fr. Paskalis Bruno Syukur, O.F.M., currently serving in Rome as General Definitor of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor, as Bishop of Bogor (Indonesia).

Rev. Fr. Paskalis Bruno Syukur, O.F.M., was born on the 17th of May 1962 in Ranggu, diocese of Ruteng, on the island of Flores (Indonesia). After primary school he attended the minor seminary of Pius X in Kisol. His philosphical studies were at the Driyarkara faculty of philosophy, Jakarta, followed by theological studies at the faculty of theology, Yogyakarta.

He made Solemn Profession in the Order of Friars Minor on the 22nd January, 1989 and was ordained priest on the 2nd of February, 1991.

He has held the following posts of responsibility: 1991-1993: Pastoral ministry in the parish of Moanemani, diocese of Jayapura (West Papua); 1993-1996: Studies for the Licenciate in Spirituality at the Antonianum, Rome; 1996-2001: Master of Novices in Depok; 1998-2001: Guardian of the O.F.M. fraternity at Depok and member of the OFM Provincial Council; 2001-2009: Minister Provincial in Indonesia; 2009 until the present: OFM Definitor General in Roma for Asia and Oceania.
